Miele Dishwasher F12 / F13: Water Intake Fault
F12 and F13 mean the machine expected incoming water and didn’t get enough of it. F12 typically appears at the start of intake, F13 during it — both point at the supply path: valve open? screen clear? AquaStop happy?
Owner checklist
- Water supply valve under the sink fully open. After plumbing work in the house, half-closed angle stops are common.
- Inlet screen. Close the valve, unscrew the fill hose at the tap end, and rinse the small filter screen — Contra Costa line work sends grit into these screens in batches (we’ll see a week of F12 calls after a main break).
- Water pressure. A pressure-regulator failure in the house shows up here first.
- AquaStop hose. If the hose’s valve block tripped, the indicator (where fitted) shows red — that’s a leak-protection event, not just an intake fault.
The repair side
Recurring F12/F13 with good supply usually means the intake solenoid valve (or the AquaStop valve block on machines so equipped) is failing to open reliably, or the flow meter isn’t registering. Both are documented, testable, and stocked parts for us.
One field note: intermittent F13 that appears only on hot summer evenings is often low municipal pressure at peak irrigation hours — we’ve verified this on more than one Pleasant Hill street before replacing anything.
